What is the Transcode Folder

Postby DSnutz » Mon May 18, 2009 12:37 am

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered - I assume it has - but I searched and didn't find what I was looking for. If it has been covered please point me to it ;)

What exactly is the Transcode Folder that I see on my PS3? Inside I see folders for the various movie files, with other files inside, but what exactly are these for?

Also, what happens in the case of a crash? During playback one time, the PS3 Media Server app crashed (OS X) and I had a hard time getting back to where I was in the movie when it happened.

Thanks for any help,
D.

in the # transcode folder # you get an additional opportunity to playback files which couldn't be streamed (by default transcoding engine). In this virtual folder you get the list of files anther time and you can then choose for each file the transcoding engine for playback.
Some engines require additiional software like avisynth.

Don't use the forward or reverse buttons if you want to forward a more than a few minutes. Use the "jump to point in time" function. Sorry, I don't know the correct English name for this...

English PS3 manual calls it "Go To": http://manuals.playstation.net/document ... nel.html#9
