only audio with 1080p videos

Postby Jay_74 » Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:37 am

Hi all,
after some times enjoying this great piece of software :D I'm having trouble watching 1080p videos.

My configuration is:
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2,66 Ghz
RAM: 2 GB DDR2
Video: ATI radeon x1250 (Chipset SB600)
Windows XP SP3
Network connection: wired 100 Mbps netgear switch
PS3 Mediaserver version: 1.10.51
No avisynth installed, so only mencoder

Short description:
720p videos are working great, they all work without a single problem, but if I try to watch some trailers @ 1080p I can hear just the audio and the video is black.
I've downloaded a couple of trailers @ 1080p from PSN and they work perfect.
I can see information while playing those "black videos" (triangle button on controller and then i+ button) and the bandwith used for them is a little bit above 10 Mbps (peaks till to 22 Mbps)
Those trailers work perfectly on PC
My TV is capable of 1080i only, not 1080p, could it be a problem ?
Is PS3 supposed to downscale videos from 1080p to 1080i like it does when playing trailers @1080p downloaded from PSN ?
Please, help me enjoying some good stuff @ 1080p :D
Debug log is attached
Trailers I've tryed to play are:
spider-man_3_trailer_720p.mkv (OK)
Rambo-Trailer1b-1080p.mkv (only audio)
The mist.mkv (only audio , is a 1080p trailer)
Transformers - Trailer #1.mkv (OK, is a 720p trailer)

the black screen is normal with the first one, but a full transcode should have started, rather than just muxed and streamed an incompatible file to the ps3
restart, relaunch the file and post the debug.log file

In the meantime I've tried with the trailer of the latest Star Trek film and it works (@1080p)
I think it's related with the ReFrames
In the trailer I'm trying to play the value it's 8 while the trailer of Star Trek it's only 4
Anyway, I've attached the log of the latest test I've done, tat's to say, playing a 1080p triler with ReFrames equals to 8 (blank screen)
Thanks for the support

yes, there's a bug in the avc ref frames detection... but without the file, it's hard to solve it :p

He means the actual video file that highlights the ref frames bug.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

I understand now :D
As far as I can remember I've downloaded that file (Rambo-Trailer1b-1080p.mkv) from azureus.
I can try to get an hash or something like that just to give some details to find the same file, or I can use some service to send the file...
Let me know shagrath if I have to send you the file ;)
Thank you all of you
