installing pms on a router

So, treat me as a complete noob to all this... but I'd like to be able to run pms on my gargoyle router with an attached hard drive, with out having to turn on any pc. There may already be a way to do this like installing linux on my router? idk... but I think it would be something cool if it could be done:?
