So I have installed a brand new copy of Ubuntu 14.04 on a machine that I plan to use as a media server to other devices in my house (e.g. my ps3
Other than the fact that all of the repositories seem unsupported at 14.04 and ffmpeg has been depreciated, I downloaded the PMS files manually, unpacked them, installed mencoder, mplayer, vlc, openjdk-6-jre and manually got hold of ffmpeg and dumped it into my /usr/bin/ dir.
I can run the application by kicking of the PMS.sh file and my ps3 picks up everything fine, until I try to play a video that is... When I try to play a video it displays the video content fine, however, I get a very loud whiny buzzing noise (incredibly annoying) instead of the audio.
I have done some searching and many of the recommendations that have worked for others:
- Lowering audio volume on ps3 (via triangle).
- Ensure left+right audio set up on ps3 (via triangle).
- Unchecking the DTS option under common transcoding options (pms).
Have unfortunately failed, does anyone else have any ideas where I could be going wrong? Or some tips/tricks on debugging the issue?
