How to make PS3 Media Server work with a hotel internet

Postby Matth3w » Tue Feb 25, 2014 9:26 pm

Is it possible?

I am moving to Hawaii and we are unfortunately going to have to live in a hotel for about 30 days. I have a TV, PS3 250GB, Acer laptop with windows 7, and a wifi router.

Can someone tell me how to make this work? For starters, can you even connect without a wired connection??? For example, if the PS3 and the laptop are connected to the WiFi will that even work?

Can I just use an external hard drive or what?

If you have your own wireless AP than the hotel's internet will not play a role for setting up your network, other than making sure interference doesn't come into play. If i were you, if the wireless AP also supports wired connections use it. Or I've never tried this but it should work, use a crossover cable to plug your PC directly to your PS3 to stream bypassing a switch.
