Guys i need some help! I use Mencoder to transcode to my Xbox360 Elite. Im using the latest Java and PMS but when i try to play a movie with a mkv container it plays the first 5 minutes then it just stops for no reason at all. Like the rules said i tried the lastest snapshot build and got the same problem. I buffers then after 5 minutes it just stops. Please help me ive been at this for 3 weeks now. Dont know what to do anymore.

Thanks in advance Stephanie

Hi thanks for your quick reply yes i tried that a few days ago but it did not work for me. Mecoder would not work anymore and PMS would stop seeing the xbox360.

ok i see in the debug that you are using the snapshot build. this is good but for some reason the mencoder version hasnt been updated which it should of been (maybe its a old snapshot build) because it says in the debug log its running sb41 which is quite old now. you could try manually updating it just download it from the below link then extract it then copy the folder contents overwritting the files in "c:\program files (x86)\ps3 media server\win32" folder

lets see how that goes.

Thanks i just switched back to the latest stable build i updated the files with the ones you told me to download. thanks to you i got my subtitles. but 8 minutes into the movie the buffer again stops working. for no apparent reason.

Update: It seems to work now just rebooted my pc and the xbox360. So the movie plays fine now subs play but there is a small audio delay. Because everything works fine its hard for me to see what i can do to fix it. Do you know any workaround for that?

Another Update the delay grows bigger if you continue watching

click on transcoding tab then click on mencoder then try unticking "alternate a/v sync" see if that fixes it.

Hey Mazey, same as before it starts out in sync but after about 30 minutes it begins to start being really noticeable by the end of the movie its huge like a dubbed effect. Now this movie im testing ive seen before on my pc and it plays just fine. Its only 720p .mkv

yeah you will get a few files that mencoder has bad sync on, basically its just badly encoded it might play fine on the pc but when it needs to transcode its a whole other story i would try and find another encode of the same file, you could use ffmpeg which handles sync alot better then mencoder but you will lose subs. if you have show transcode folder enabled in general settings you could try some of the other encoders.
