Cannot see Media Server from PS3

Postby R0b0t » Sun Dec 22, 2013 3:26 pm

Hi All,
I'm a newbie and have trawled through the FAQs and forums but cannot find a solution that works for me.
I have two Win7 machines, both have PMS 1.90.1 installed.

PC1 has Java 7 update 10
PC2 has Java 7 update 45

PC1 media server can be seen from PS3 and I'm able to play files from PS3 perfectly well
PC2 media server cannot be seen, but can see as Windows Media.

I'd prefer to be able to play files from PC2, as its a fixed desktop machine always connected to the internet.
PC1 is a portable laptop.

As I said, I've trawled and trawled to no avail. What makes this odd is that PC2 was visible as a media server until a few weeks ago - no obvious reason why it should no longer be the case - no PC updates that I can point to.

Hope someone can help.

Thx in advance

Follow the FAQ - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&p=32731#p34933
My guess would be some sort of firewall issue on PC2, but go through each of the help points in that FAQ post to make sure.
As noted in the FAQ, you'll need to check the settings of ALL firewall and protection programs.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

Check your system processes for javaw.exe

I had a similar issue with 5 of them running at the same which was tripping up PMS.

Close PMS
End all the javaw.exe processes
Start PMS again

Worth a try?
