PMS Transcodes .avi even when told not to ?

Postby ipr549 » Thu Dec 12, 2013 6:26 am

I only stream .avi & .mp4 videos from my PC to PS3 so I told my PMS to skip transcoding these file types - PS3 should be able to play them natively. Here is the syntax of what is in the skip transcode box: "avi,mp4" - this should force PMS NOT to transcode these files and just push them over to my PS3, correct?

Well I am still getting major lag while watching videos. The audio will cut out and fall behind the video. The video will stutter and fall behind the audio. Or some combination of these issues and then the PS3 just gives up and quits the video, bringing me back into the browsing folder. I feel this has been happening much more frequently with .avi's - it seems PMS is not skipping transcoding .avi's even though I have commanded it to.

Please help me!

Here is my physical setup:

Intel Core i7 4770 3.4ghz
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
16gb DDR3 1600 RAM
(let me know if any other hardware is relevant)

Cisco DPC3825 router/modem combo (IEEE 802.11n)

PS3 Slim 500gb - software version 4.50

PC <---wired ethernet---> router <---wireless---> PS3

I gave up on the new version of PMS and went back to using version 1.82.0 of PMS it works well and dose not force avi's or mp4's to be transcoded.

Do you have a link to a location where I can download v 1.82.0 ?
