Had a similar problem with FLAC, especially 24 bits.

Did as mentioned by FrenchyBoss.Problem worked out, and now able to play 24 bit files on my ps3.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

if you still have issues try the latest snapshot build with flac, looks like some changes were made that would fix it in the next version..

Okay, my next instruction involves a hammer...
No, not really.
I'll give you the bottom portion of my file to copy-paste. Note that it's a personal beta setting, so it may be a bit choppy. But it works for generalized stuff. If it doesn't work, ensure that you're actually going to your #transcode# folder instead of your original as some people click to hide it not realizing that it's the transcoded files. Replace all your supported stuff with this:

# Supported video formats:
Supported = f:mpegps|mpegts v:mpeg1|mpeg2|mp4|h264 a:ac3|lpcm|mpa m:video/mpeg
Supported = f:avi|divx v:mp4|divx|mjpeg a:mp3|lpcm|mpa|ac3 m:video/x-divx gmc:0
Supported = f:mp4 v:mp4|h264 a:ac3:dts m:video/mp4
Supported = f:mp4 v:mp4|h264 a:aac m:video/mp4 n:2
Supported = f:wmv v:wmv|vc1 a:wma m:video/x-ms-wmv n:2
Supported = f:flv v:flv a:mp3|lpcm|aac|wav m:video/x-flv

# Supported audio formats:
#Supported = f:dts a:dts n:6 s:48000 m:audio/dts
Supported = f:lpcm a:lpcm n:6 s:48000 m:audio/l16
Supported = f:wav n:2 s:48000 m:audio/x-wav
Supported = f:mp3 n:2 m:audio/mpeg
Supported = f:aac n:2 m:audio/mp4 a:(?!alac).+
Supported = f:wma n:2 m:audio/x-ms-wma
Supported = f:atrac n:2 m:audio/x-oma

# Supported image formats:
Supported = f:jpg m:image/jpeg
Supported = f:png m:image/png
Supported = f:gif m:image/gif
Supported = f:tiff m:image/tiff

Oh look...there were two pages on this forum post...heh oops. Sorry! >_<

Hi All the frustrated users, I was just like you.

You don't need to update ffmpeg and mencoder.

The detailed instructions on how to enable FLAC is below:

1. Goto "C:\Program Files\PS3 Media Server\renderers" and open PMS.conf
2. Change this line "TranscodeAudio = WAV" to "TranscodeAudio = LPCM"
3. In supported audio formats add this line "Supported = f:lpcm a:lpcm n:6 s:48000 m:audio/l16"

Optionally, when you run PMS after changes to PMS.conf, move "Audio High Fidelity" above the "FFmpeg Audio" in "Transcoding Settings". For me it worked for both.

Really hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hey guys, still no fix for HTTP error 500? I tried to play

192khz/24 bit
176.4khz/24bit
96khz/24bit
96khz/16bit

in 2 channel

And everything ended with that error through Video menu and Audio high fidelity option on PS3. When I play this in Music menu through FFmpeg, it works, but only in 48khz..

This is under Windows 7. On my primary system (Ubuntu 13.10) it shows nothing in TRANSCODE folder. So there is no "Audio high fidelity" option etc. Im using on both newest PSM Snapshoot.

Flac is broken for me too using 1.90.1. "Audio format not supported" on my PS3.
Tried the config changes mentioned but no luck.
Tried 1.81.0 and 1.80.0 and same problem on these versions :|

Very sad, most of my media library is on flac.

Rolling back to 1.52.0 (works fine there)

Running on Win 7 (64 bit) & PS3.

My solution was modify ps3.conf

from:
TranscodeAudio = WAV

to
TranscodeAudio = LPCM

In the supported audio formats section:

# Supported audio formats:
Supported = f:wav a:dts n:6 s:48000 m:audio/wav # <<<<<<<<<<<< edited line
Supported = f:wav n:2 s:48000 m:audio/wav
Supported = f:mp3 n:2 m:audio/mpeg
Supported = f:aac n:2 m:audio/x-m4a a:(?!alac).+
Supported = f:wma n:2 m:audio/x-ms-wma
Supported = f:atrac n:2 m:audio/x-oma
Supported = f:lpcm a:lpcm n:6 s:48000 m:audio/l16 # <<<<<<<<<<<< added line

Tell me if everything is ok after that ;) !

This fix worked for me! Thanks!

YES YES YES! Thank you so much for your help, everyone. Whoever suggested the link http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ Gave me everything I needed. I had made a lot of small adjustments prior, like changing stuff in the pms.bat[?] file under the "supported audio formats" section, but none of them fixed the problem. Whether they impacted my success or not I do not know, but I downloaded the 64-bit version from the link provided and swapped in ONLY the ffmpeg.exe file into the same subfolder within my PMS directory, renaming the OLD ffmpeg.exe for backup, and VIOLA. ALL of my flac files are showing up, even my 24-bit files. This had been bothering me for days, seriously, thanks everyone.

If any DEVS read this thread, please don't make the future releases easier for flac playback!

hehe that was me, when the next release comes out it already includes a updated ffmpeg (well one new enough to also fix it) you can use the snapshot build or manually update ffmpeg. hopefully it gets another update before the next version comes out..
