are we switching over to ffmpeg as the main encoder anytime soon, just wondering mencoder has had its day imo. i cant get over how much better ffmpeg is, i reduced my buffer by 1/2 and using 5,1,1 and surround now and files that were lagging before i had a couple no longer lag. and it looks alot better its played everything i thrown at it. i think over time mencoder has become more of a power hog, but ffmpeg seems to be improving on how much power u need and is reducing and its futureproof with a 64 bit version available now. just so good. ohh and it could use a update also the one included in the snapshot is over 9 months old heh. i just updated it manually from here.

EDIT: ffmpeg has been updated now to a current build 08/17/2013, thanks.

the latest commit has broken mp4 video playback on my bravia hx750 which supports mp4, they are sent as mp4 and not transcoded from pms but are detected on my tv as mpeg2 and wont play. it worked fine before this commit.

INFO 2013-09-17 17:51:19.811 [StartPlaying Event] Started sending C:\file.mp4 to Sony Bravia HX on 192.168.1.102
INFO 2013-09-17 17:51:28.624 [StopPlaying Event] Stopped sending C:\file.mp4 to Sony Bravia HX on 192.168.1.102

both versions show the same in debug as above, though with the below commit it detects it as mpeg2 instead of mpeg4 and wont play

EDIT: fixed by editing the braviahx.conf and putting a # before this to ignore it MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16|video/mp4=video/mpeg

Thanks for noticing, mazey!
I rolled back the unintended change.

It seems only change introduced by commit is that "MimeTypesChanges=" is not ignored when MediaInfo=true (other changes like more logging etc. doesn't influence PMS behavior).
Before commit this "MimeTypesChanges=" was ignored so no commenting it in renderer.conf was needed.
EDIT: Sorry to repeating already known as Raptor399 already mentioned it here: https://github.com/ps3mediaserver/ps3me ... nt-4191083

well im fine with it as is but the MimeTypesChanges= would need to be #'d out on braviahx.conf for mp4 to work in the next version.

I'm a bit confused that my rollback didn't have the intended effect.

While removing the line from the .conf is an easy workaround for the problem, I would rather not introduce the need for a change in .confs at all and avoid the problem altogether. I'll see if I can come up with a better rollback. :-)

Thanks for the feedback!

Agree. It is not only about commenting one line but it changes the logic how renderer.conf files are read.
Logically "MimeTypesChanges=" were used for MediaInfo=false only because when MediaInfo=true then it is managed via "supported=" lines so it should be ignored in this case.
But right now it is not true so it can change more than you can imagine. It can have influence also on other renderers which you don't have so problem can arise for anybody without knowing problem is this described change so users will not fix it by own as you did after debugging with me.

Hi lads - I installed this and it seems to be the right version, but can't seem to find "EXPERIMENTAL/UNSTABLE: Encoded audio (AC3 and DTS) passthrough. If enabled, overrides previous option."

1.90.2-SNAPSHOT
Build e9694b460

Am I missing something? Thanks!

Hi Crowbar. the possibility to encapsulate AC3 into an LPCM stream has been remove quite a while ago, that's why you don't find this option. Encapsulating DTS is still supported tough.
If you always wanted to have your most recent videos at the top of the folder in the ps3 or wished you could group all videos with the same genre in one folder, have a look at pms-mlx
