Playback error with 1.82.0

Postby Darksteele » Tue Jun 11, 2013 8:56 pm

Ever since upgrading to the new release, I have not been able to playback any videos and get "This content cannot be played. (800288E1).
I tried to revert to the old release and still getting the same thing.
I did the usual registry cleaning and re-installed and nothing seems to work.

Any advice?

Forgive me if I've posted this to the wrong thread. Please direct me to the appropriate thread with a link if one exist already

Thanks

Remember to quit PS3 Meida Server first-First go to Computer select Organize-then Folder and Search Options-View Hidden Files And Folders select Show after this stay in the window uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, after click apply then delete C:\ProgramData\PMS\PMS.conf just the PMS\PMS.conf in the ProgramData directory, you will loose settings in PS3Media Server you will have to add movies to the Ps3 Media Server again, and you will have to set the settings as well, you may have PMS.conf and yet not.

Issue still occurs in 1.90.1.

Cannot play anything with .srt subtitles as described in many forum posts. Deleting PMS.conf does nothing.

I've seen a lot of posts with this issue. Is there any way to bug a report or something? PMS is basically useless to my family without subtitles capabilities :(

Thank you!

pms doesnt use any external codecs, installing that will be useless with pms.

Have you tried reinstalling PS3 Media Server and allowing the firewall?

Have you tried uninstalling PS3 Media Server and Deleting folder C:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server then, the folder to delete is underlined, then reboot the computer. Then you could install PS3 Media Server, Don't forget to allow firewall. You will need to set the options again, and add Movies to the navigation tab, make sure to backup movies

Just want to correct this statement:
Lukasz wrote:make sure to backup movies

Unless you store your movies in the "PS3 Media Server" application directory (which you shouldn't do in the first place!), PMS and your movies will live in completely separate directories. Removing and installing PMS has nothing to do with your movies, so you do not need to backup the movies at all.
