1.82 Disconnects after 10 secs of video

Postby Aradobanjo » Wed Jul 17, 2013 3:41 am

Hello,

1. Java 7
2. Version 1.82
3. Debug.log - Will give as a reply.

PS3 Media Server is very nice. I am having some difficulty. I upgraded my network from wireless to 1G wired. The devices I am using are an Onkyo RC460 and a Panasonic DMP-BDT-320. The Panasonic connects, displays the folder and will play the mp4 for about <1 minute then claims there is a network connection issue.

The cable is cat 5E and Netgear GS105T Rev 4 and GS108T. This was sort of working with a Linksys 100 5 port switch in front of the Onkyo and Panasonic with mostly Cat 5 cabling. Stuttering and lagging were the biggest problems. I upgraded the network from wireless to 100M to 1G. The PS3 is on the 1G NIC and on the 108T.

Monitoring the network under Ubuntu 13.04 does not show network saturation. It did not under 100. It did show it under Wireless. The nics on the Onkyo and Panasonic show 100 on the Netgear 105T. This is bazaar when I play a video, after 30+ seconds the network connection gets dumped. I have to find it again and reconnect.

The debug log shows the Background task Singleton 2 restart started right after it starts playing an MP4. The log shows that the server stops responding and shuts down. Ouch.

Hello,

After testing again, the previous log interpretation was incorrect. The better findings is in this log.

16 23:20:22.672 [New I/O server worker #5-4] Media renderer was not recognized. Possible identifying HTTP headers: User-Agent: Panasonic-UPnPSDK/1.00 DLNADOC/1.50

DEBUG 2013-07-16 23:31:00.276 [UPNP-AliveMessageSender] Sending ALIVE...
DEBUG 2013-07

The previous log was me restarting the service at the GUI. This log is does not give the reason for the "Connection failed" message on the TV screen and the debug log. The debug log shows at INFO 2013-07-16 23:21:01.100 [StopPlaying Event] because the connect terminate. This suggests more of a network issue than a PS3 problem at the present. I will use a hub and wireshark to debug the network.

Hello,

With the GS108, I am able to monitor the port the GS105T. I can see more traffic and details. When I complete the analysis, I will post the findings.

Hello,

A successful capture between the client, Panasonic DMP-BDT-320, and the server, Ubuntu 13.04 8G P3 SSD with PS3 1.82, shows a repeatable pattern after a video is selected and played. This was accomplished through a mirrored port to a Wireshark enabled laptop.

As the stream is being sent to the client, the client requests a Keep Alive request. The server replies OK and sends the reply. Then the client asks for the data stream to be restarted. The server pauses. The client asks again. The client gives up.

The client dance is repeatable with video. Audio does not seem to have this problem. A review of the settings for the server might show something related to this. This is not a wireless network now but a 1G network.

Hello mesktbob,

Thank you for the reply and the direction. Here is a sample. The log file is too big for pastebin. http://pastebin.com/s5CnHHws

The configuration of the network of the server is fine. The panasonic client and others see the server. The panasonic is the problem child. Thank you.

a) That's a private paste bin, can't access it.
b) If you can't post the full log there, zip it and post it to somewhere like MediaFire.

Hello,

Being secure is what is important. Here is the media fire link. http://www.mediafire.com/folder/12mk7plw2b3xe/Documents.

It's just local network information and some local filesystem info. Nothing really to secure ;)

AFAICT from from the log, the only thing I see is that the multicast interface isn't getting properly set in the beginning. Is multicast enabled on the ETH4 NIC?

I'm not sure why the Panasonic is sending a stop packet. Are there other media servers that correctly send this content to the bluray player? If so, the only thing I can think of is comparing the packet traces between each media server and the player to see how the other media server responds to the player's restart request.
The whole UPnP/DLNA hand-shaking should be the most-straightforward part of this application, and every other client seems to work correctly in this regard with PMS, so I'm not sure where the glitch is...
