FFMPEG transcoding with external subtitles hardcoded

Postby tydell » Sun Jul 14, 2013 6:25 pm

Since ffmpeg supports loading external subtitles (eg. srt and ass format) with
Code: Select all
-vf subtitles="name_of_ext_subtitles_file.srt"
option is there any chance to apply this in PMS with ffmpeg transcoding ?
I don't see PMS to do that at this moment.
PS. btw with aac sound ffmpeg required for me "-strict -2" to transcode video correctly.

My ffmpeg version on Archlinux is:
Code: Select all
 tydell@probook4530s:~$ ffmpeg -version
ffmpeg version 1.2.1
built on May 10 2013 16:31:05 with gcc 4.8.0 (GCC) 20130502 (prerelease)

When PMS will fully sync with UMS then yes I suppose it will get ffmpeg subs support. I already saw some PMS<->UMS sync work on github.

Should be in the current version PMS already?
I'm pretty sure I added that possibility myself back in February.

Yes, you are right. I muddled it with internal/embeded subs. External were added months ago.
