PMS 1.81 - Unable to play MKVs

Postby zprewitt » Thu May 16, 2013 12:43 am

I have two MKVs that I am unable to play on PMS. These are the first two files I have attempted to play using this program.

Debug logs are attached. Below is the MediaInfo. These are both files ripped from BluRay using the latest version of MakeMKV.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that my Mini's fan goes full blast whenever the PMS tries to stream files to the PS3. Is that normal?

Re: PMS 1.81 - Unable to play MKVs

UPDATE: Found that ffmpeg was able to play Michael Clayton without problems, but WotW was still crapping out at about the 1 minute mark with all encoders, even transcoding to AC3.

Just played a rip of Thin Red Line, which has basically the same MediaInfo as WotW, and only got a brief hiccup about 3 minutes in, then it seemed to stabilize.

Seems like for WotW as soon as the bitrate got to around 40-50mbps, the hiccups would start. After a minute it would regularly jump up to over 100.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post the info!

There is indeed a change in the debug.log after about a minute:

Thread-42 is mencoder, Thread-61 is TsMuxeR.
It looks like mencoder is somehow unhappy after the first minute.
Unfortunately, I'm no MEncoder expert, so I have no idea what it is unhappy about.

Try Googling for an answer.
