Connection Misery

Postby fluidimage » Thu Apr 18, 2013 7:48 pm

I've been trying to connect my Mac (27" iMac OSX 10.6.8) wirelessly to my PS3. I was using the Null River software but came cross this. The NR software worked fine, no connection problems.

So I've got the red X in the main window and my Mac won't see the PS3 and my PS3 won't see the mac.PS3 is enbaled to see media servers

Here's a log:

ERROR 2013-04-18 19:42:15.917 [UPNPHelper] UPNP network exception
java.net.SocketException: Can't assign requested address
at java.net.PlainDatagramSocketImpl.socketSetOption(Native Method) ~[na:1.6.0_45]

at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:680) [na:1.6.0_45]

I've been through the connection checklist and been at this for hours but no joy. Firewalls, NIC's, Forced IP's etc etc.

Any ideas?? End of tether has been reached. I'm also not tech savvy really so a numpty explanation would be appreciated.

I'm using a Virgin Super Hub and all the settings have been tweaked as per all the suggestions here.

I was having the same problem. I searched and searched and tried and tried and could NOT get any solution to work. Then I discovered this page:

Follow the instructions on the link, and it will solve your problem! :) It's simply an issue with the latest Mac App store version of Java.

Yep, that did work!

Had a nightmare finding the file as the link page was full of spam and dead ends but eventually got it and it connected first time!

Many thanks.

I hope you noticed the release of the latest version of PMS, which contains a fix for the problem.
No need to downgrade Java with that.
