PMS not transcoding :(

Postby Cexitime » Sat Apr 06, 2013 2:33 pm

Hi all!

First off, great software!

However I cannot find this as an setting in options, so hoping for some help, I need PMS to transcode files smaller than 4GB to an Xbox 360, There are 3 360's in the house and it appears all my media files under 4GB are not transcoded and thus wont play on the xbox's, how can I force PMS to transcode files smaller than 4GB, the media files are Mp4's

Thanks :D

[Edit] It actually appears its also not transcoding some files over 4GB, I don't understand why its only doing some and not the others, am I missing something??
99% of files are h264 encoded Mp4's that are 1080P. How can I force PMS to transcode everything?

Under "Transcoding Settings > Common transcode settings > Video Settings" you will find an option "Force transcode for the following extensions (comma separated)".
Does that solve your problem?

Why you need to transcode files bigger than 4GB?
When streaming via DLNA/UPnP renderers don't have size limitations as they can have with "physical files".

Ty for the replies, forcing it to transcode Mp4's have solved that issue, now it will no longer play any movie for more than 5 minutes, more research required!
