Snapshot Build Discussion

Postby leroy » Sat Dec 01, 2012 10:22 pm

Hi,

By testing the Latest Snapshot build I noticed that some MKV files still shows embedded subtitles with the GUI option "Definitely disable subtitles" checked.

I found that the MKV files that still show subtitles have setting "Default: Yes", that can be shown with MediaInfo.
I guess that this embedded setting causes that this subtitle somehow is still forced to be used with MEncoder.

Version 1.72.0 works fine where no subtitles are shown with "Definitely disable subtitles" checked.
By testing older snapshot builds I found that Build: d594b2962 (2012-11-20) already has this issue.

MediaInfo text output and debug.log of tested mkv files using Snapshot Build: d594b2962 (2012-11-20):
MediaInfo and debug.log.zip
(43.63 KiB) Downloaded 158 times

If I need to provide more info please let me know.

Snapshot build crashing for me

Postby Wolfgan » Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:37 pm

PMS 1.72 works like a charm. Trying to test the upcoming version, I followed the instructions at viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14753, installed the snapshot (1.80.0 with dependencies) and PMS started as usual, but as soon as I try to navigate it from any Player it crashes badly (Java Platform SE binary stopped working), with no indication in the logs of probable cause. Details below.
Any clue? Thx, Wolf.

I just downloaded the latest 1.80.0 w/ dependencies and I get the same error as soon as I navigate to the folder that my media is stored.

"jna1063356509286115518.dll" may indicate that MediaInfo.dll or MediaInfo64.dll have to do with this crash. PMS is almost entirely pure Java (which ought to rule out Java VM crashes), except for the MediaInfo bit. When you start browsing, that library will be used to get media information and apparently it crashes Java.

You could try downloading different versions of MediaInfo.dll from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/.

Let us know if you find a working combination!

Hi,
For what it's worth, I've tried v0.7.62 (32bit and 64bit) with PMS 1.80.0-SNAPSHOT and am still getting the same Java crash as the OP.

Guess I'll hop back onto 1.72 for now, looking forward to VLC as an option :)

Will check back here to see if there are any suggestions, happy to give them a try and report back.

something since march 31st in snapshot is crashing pms all of a sudden on directory browsing.. so something either today or yesterday is buggy. i run pms as a service when it crashes it resets and the debug log is new again. so no idea i got a feeling its library cache related. march 30 snapshot runs fine. i dont think its mediainfo .62 since ive been running that for ages, i have been manually updating it.

- <properties>
- <!--
- Last known JNA version known not to cause a Java crash
- when browsing folders with files in them on Windows.
- -->
- <jna-version>3.2.5</jna-version>
- </properties>

please revert this, it crashes when run as a service. maybe normally aswell i dunno i run as a service.

Bah!
I was hoping the new JNA version would finally subside that problem as it didn't crash in Windows XP.

I will revert the commit, thanks for the heads up.
