question on folders and streaming

Postby ozzyracer » Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:53 am

Hi

I was wondering is there a way to combine folders for example

Hdd1 tv shows 1
Hdd2 tv shows 2
Hdd3 tv shows 3

to output them on the ps3 as only Tv shows? With 1 folder with the content of all 3 hdd folders?

Instead of them showing up as tv shows 1 ect

-----------------------------------

Second question

Is there a way to access the media folders that pms streams on other things like my laptop?

Thank you

Issue #1, a virtual folder would be nice.

Issue #2 I wanted to say sure, you can do it. But I'm finding it hard to find DLNA Client software for a PC (Windows). While there are a number of servers I'm not finding clients. :( The only answer that I've found is Samsung's AllShare. This is BOTH a server and a client. You can stream from PMS to AllShare. I just tested it out. The download and software is free but not the greatest either. One bug they have is, don't have your Windows folders set to compression or Allshare won't find any of your files, just folders. :(

Virtual folders are supported for years.
Code: Select all
virtual_folders=virtual_folder_name1|path_to_folder1,path_to_folder2,path_to_folder3;virtual_folder_name2|path_to_folder,......
or
Code: Select all
vfolders = @vfolders.conf

You can validate your vfolders.conf file with viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6822&start=60#p54335

Thanks ExSport. I'm a newbie and I didn't know or see that in the code. Create feature. I'll have to try it out tomorrow.

I found a link on it. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6822

The definition goes into the PMS.CONF (for those that don't want to read the link). :)

ExSport,

I'm running version 1.72 of PMS and have 3 folders I wish to see as one folder. Just to clarify all I have to do is add the line below to the PMS.CONF file and I should see a virtual folder upon restarting PMS?

virtual_folders=HDMovies|E:\HDMOVIESA-H,F:\HDMOVIESI-Q,G:\HDMOVIESR-Z;

To see 'HDMovies' have all 3 sets of files under one folder?

Many thanks in advance,
Paul.

On Win you need to use double \\ so try this:
Code: Select all
virtual_folders=HDMovies|E:\\HDMOVIESA-H,F:\\HDMOVIESI-Q,G:\\HDMOVIESR-Z

Yes, post debug.log in trace mode. If you don't know, check the FAQ how to do it. ;)
