Actually, I found that using file name extensions of ".m4v" for my MPEG4 encoded streams wasn't enough. I had to edit the PS3.conf renderer configuration file and force it to pass thru m4v files without re-encoding. I didn't expect that since I figured PMS would recognize that file name extension, but I guess not...?
Great program here, btw! I use it to stream to my PS3 and I'm working on getting it to function with my stereo (all folders appear empty with no transcoding options!?). Once I get this completely working, I'll move my iTunes library to my Linux file server. I use the iTunes interface for editing media information and playing media on my AppleTV downstairs, but I plan to use PMS for other devices...
