video playback fails

well, this is weird. PS3 Media Server 1.72.0 was working perfectly until yesterday...but now, most video files don't play through MEncoder any longer.
I don't understand what happened.

MKVs, AVIs and MOVs fail to play. I get an error message 'this content cannot be played. (800288E1) each time I try to play any of these files. On the other hand, MP4 video files play ok.
I tested MP3 playback, it works fine. JPG images display ok too.
My PS3 Media Server is 1.72.0. I've the VLC 2.0.5 player installed and JAVA Version 7 update 13. I'm running Win 7 x64. My laptop and PS3 are connected to a wired 1GBit router. I've attached the pastebin of Debug.log file. http://pastebin.com/uV0XJuBL

so I guess I'll continue my entertaining monologue here.

I've downgraded from 1.72.00 to 1.71.00 which used to work perfectly with .MKV files. Well, no longer and I can't explain what fucked it up. I'm guessing it's got nothing to do with PS3 Media Server but something outside of it. VLC Player? DIVX media pack? JAVA? I've no clue how to solve it and it's REALLY frustrating as no one on this forum seems to have this problem but me. Fascinating.

Got the exact same problem here. Installed all of the codecs, installed PMS, did all of the sttings right, started a mkv movie.
Got it to work first time, but the movie started to stutter, so i restarted PMS. Now i can´t start the movie again.
Only get the 800288E1 error. Also tried to downgrade, but i just get the same problem.....

Uninstalled all of the necessary files, restarted comp, and reinstalled all again, same thing, same error????
This is so frustrating!
