Sony Bravia 2010 model (this is the topic headline) does not support mp4, so why did you use this line?
"Supported = f:mp4 v:mp4|h264 a:ac3|aac m:video/mp4"

Same with WMV
"Supported = f:wmv v:wmv|vc1 a:wma n:2 m:video/x-ms-wmv"

Yes, 2011/2012 can stream mp4, but not 2010 model....so why not create specific Sony bravia for each year models ?

I'm not sure you can tell them apart from the headers they send?

they are all Bravia EX's so its almost impossible, though after the EX's came out the HX was released which is 2012+ we really should get a BraviaHX.conf so we can tweak both with diff settings its alot easier to detect if its EX or HX in the header. the hx is basically the same as EX but supports mp4 and wmv maybe some other things.

heres the list.

You can distinguish all year serie model with header:

# UserAgentSearch:
# Sony Bravia 2010 has been observed using the following user agents:
# X-AV-Physical-Unit-Info: pa="BRAVIA KDL-46EX500";,
# X-AV-Client-Info: av=5.0; cn="Sony Corporation"; mn="BRAVIA KDL-46EX500"; mv="1.7";

- For example Sony KDL-40NX713 is a 2010 model (second digit refer to the year model (0|1)=2010, (2)=2011 and (5)=2012 )

NX, HX, EX is for design serie
Format supported is per year serie (all design HX,NX,HX support same formats)

So with a fine regex you can distinguish 2010/2011/2012 Sony Bravia profiles (like serviio)

I've got a Sony Bravia NX7 kdl-40nx715 - 2010 and i have this aspect ratio problem many of you have, I have tryed many of the solutions and the only one that seemed to work ended up screwing the subtitules in the movies, any thoughts on what I can do ?, I'm not really good with computers either, I also don't understand where i should put this :

" mencoder_decode = -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16\/9,dsize=4\/3 " (which seams to be the solution)

thanks for the software it works great

The best solution I found so far is to scale the video to an "odd" resolution.

Code: Select all
mencoder_decode = -vf expand=::::1:16/9,scale=1283:720 -lavcopts aspect=16/9

This makes my Sony display 16:9 and 4:3 movies correctly in WIDE Screen mode.
1276:720 works too but steels pixels on the left and right. It feels that as close as the resolution gets to 16:9 the sony displays it with black bars on top and bottom. In the past I had -aspect 4:3 for 16:9 videos, but many pixels where stolen on the left and right. I'm not so happy with this odd scale so far as I have:
- a verry wide movie (720x304 [SAR 1:1 DAR 45:19]) which gets a small green bar on top of the video
- some 4:3 videos which are shrinked in their height (720x540 [SAR 1:1 DAR 4:3]) while the same resolution/DAR info is displayed correctly Video Bitrate of the source is a bit different according to mediainfo but no idea how this is a problem here.

It looks like I found a permanent solution to fix the aspect problem of my Sony Bravia TV without any croping of pixels.

conf:
Code: Select all
#false for not falling back to tsMuxer
mencoder_mux_compatible = false
# :2 is needed for some extrem "short" videos like aspect 2.35:1 which otherwise would create a green bar on the verry top of the screen
# the strange scale is needed to avoid some "auto" screen adjustments on the TV which makes all wrong. 1276:720 also works but
# cuts parts of the screen away on the left and right. tested with 4:3, 16:9 and 2.35:1 videos
mencoder_decode =  -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16/9:2,scale=1283:720 -lavcopts aspect=16/9

TV Setup:
HOME -> Settings -> Display -> Screen:
- Screen Format: Wide
- Auto Format : Off
- Display Area : +1

Not general settings because you are scaling to 720p.
What about files with SD or 1080p resolution? Scaling to 720p will degrade quality and uses much more CPU.
