1) Are all the files playing well, only subs missing?
2) I suppose all the srt files are in the same folder and have the same name of the video files, except for the extension.
3) In Mencoder settings, did you check the option "Autoload *.srt/*.sub subtitles with the same file name"?

Your subtitle priority is ignored!
There is a bug in latest PMS versions that when "Audio/Subtitles language priority" is empty, default is used and it is "*.*"
It means for any audio any subs are loaded. Change this to e.g. "en,off" if your native language is "en" or "de,off" if you are german etc...
You should be able to see also external .srt subs in TRANSCODE folder, if file name is same as the movie, like "Moviename.mkv" + "Moviename.en.srt" for english subs or "Moviename.en-forced.srt" for forced english subs.

Thanks for the quick responses, but I still cannot set PMS to stream with subs. It looks like there is some kind of a problem with Mencoder, because some times it is freezing, but no encoding is working fine. My native language is Bulgarian and these are my settings:

Mine is working fine with the settings above. But, since you are having problems with video files, it seems that you need to edit the config file.

I installed 1.40 firstly, and it was detecting my TV and then I upgraded to 1.70. Now when I uninstalled 1.70 and installed back again 1.40 it says that it cannot detect PS3 and it gives a big red x in the middle of the window. I noticed that all of the settings from the previous version are saved as shared files, sub, settings etc. I have deleted the folder "PS3 shared server" from "Program Files" after the uninstall, but it looks like it saves the profiles elsewhere. Where can I find and delete them and do you think that this is the problem for 1.40 not to detect the TV? When I install back 1.70 it detects the TV and WMP automatically

It is wrong setting. You need to use

Format is lang code for audio (or UND or * as any) and lang code for subs (or OFF) divided by ",". When more preferences are set, you need to divide them by ";"

Why to use obsolete version??? If it doesn't work with new versions, post DEBUG.LOG with info what file failed to play so we can easily find it in log

Hi I tried everything that you said, but still there aren't any subtitles. When I try to play MEncode file with external subs, video freezes. The file (on the print screen) is avi, but when played through MEncode with subs is shown on the TV as .mpg.

I have tried with 2 other video files .avi and .mpg with MEncoder external subs, but still with no result - either freezes or shows file is not supported. May be there is a problem with the settings, but I have no idea how to check. I use PhilipsPFL3xx7 1.2.zip config file and have tried Philips 32PFL4017.zip config file as well.

My TV is 32PFL3807H/12 with the latest firmware so far T921E 2.12 and I have played .mkv with .sub through USB. According to Philips support, to be able to play BG subs (Cyrillic) via USB, the file should be saved as unicode not ANSI.

When I play the file noencoding ext subtitles the video plays without a problem, but still no subs. I even checked with English subs. I have tried with .srt; .sub, saved as ANSI and unicode, but to no avail.

update:

I used a new .mkv file and .srt. MEncoder still freezing, but with noencription the subs are streaming but instead of Bulgarian are showing in English and the weird thing is that the .srt file is in Bulgarian on the computer

Hi, of course there's a good reason to recommend PMS 1.4 for Philips TVs. That is because versions after 1.4 do not show srt subtitles when playing mkv files on Philips and nothing about this issue appears in debug log.
