Sounds like you need a new TV....
But in the meantime, there is no setting that you can easily configure.
However, I think I've found what you're looking for in the source code, in which case you could try downloading the source, modifying that value, and then packaging PMS.

Note: if the General Configuration (tab) -> HTTP Engine V2 (checkbox) setting is unchecked, you'll need to modify Request.java instead.

Why, thank you, you are very kind to come up with a solution. I did just compile PMS, setting the timeout value to 42300 seconds (don't know if it isn't, perhaps, too liberal a number), and am currently testing (playing a file). However, I do not believe it worked, as before that I browsed the media server files for a bit (so that I know a connection has been established), and then continued with watching the news on TV. When I checked back, then, the server was nowhere to be found and I had to fiddle with the network settings again so that the TV could see it once more.

I will try some more (probably not at the moment, though) and advise on progress made. Thank you very much for the proposed remedy.

I mentioned in the config-file in "Findings" that I found that this TV does not support all resolutions in the MPEG-2 format. (format used for transcoding)

But what about the playback when remuxing is used? When MKV file is remuxed with [tsMuxeR] to mpeg-ts format? It has same limitations?
tsMuxeR creates instead of mpeg-ps[mpeg2] file the mpeg-ts[h264] one.

The mpeg2 resolution limitation (that only 1920x1080 is supported and for example 1920x1040 not),
only occurs for 2009 TV's (xxPFLxx4), and I guess also for 2008 TV's (xxPFLxx3)

The tsMuxeR engine is only usable if the renderer has native support for mpeg-ts h264.

The Philips TV's support this format since 2012. (xxPFLxx7)
Except the xxPFL4907 (I guess according the manual) and maybe also other series.

Native support can be given in the renderer config-file by using:
Supported = f:mpegts v:h264

Thanks for info Leroy. I know how to enable native support but never imagined that Philips don't have h264 support in some models. It is quite pity for owners of these TV models...

Hi,

I have a question. sorry if this is the wrong place for it.
I have a Philips 7606 TV connected to Harman/Kardon amp. via HDMI-ARC.
Regualr PMS config I only get 3.1 audio so I checked "Convert DTS/FLAC to LPCM" and got 5.1 audio from VOB files and AVI.
However, MKV's stopped playing. When I play them I get a pixeled screen, most of it green.
Any way to fix it?

Hello everyone, my first post here. I cannot explain how happy I am right now, as this is the first time I have been able to stream movies with .srt subtitles to my Philips 40PFL6606H/12 TV. This is a config file for Philips 32PFL4017. I made this file for this model since none of the conf files here worked with this model at all. I tested and it is working smooth, flawless, with h264 mkv, divx, other mpeg4 compressions and m2ts. In other words, works very well with all my video files including srt subtitles. BUT to achieve srt subs with mkv files you will need to download the old PMS 1.4 version, google it. At least until today, jan 17th 2013, the more recent versions DO NOT place srt subs in mkv files.

Change the video quality settings in the transcoding settings to keyint=25:vqmax=7:vqmin=2, so you will have a nice experience playing HD movies tru wi-fi (of course, must have a decent connection).

Este é um arquivo de configuração para a Philips 32PFL4017, que eu tive que fazer porque o PMS não funcionou com nenhum dos outros. É provável que funcione com outros modelos da mesma família (xxPFL4xxx7) mas não testei. Foi testado apenas com o citado modelo e funcionou muito bem, reproduzindo com legendas srt todos os filmes que possuo. É importante notar que, para que as legendas funcionem com filmes mkv, é indispensável que se use com o PS3 Media Server 1.4, porque as versões mais recentes, por motivo que desconheço, não apresentam legendas srt com arquivos mkv nas TVS Philips. Portanto procurem no Google pelo PMS 1.4 para download.
Para boa conseguir assistir filmes HD via w-fi sem "soquinhos" sugiro que mudem a configuração de qualidade de vídeo, na aba de configuração de vídeo transcoder, para "keyint=25:vqmax=7:vqmin=2".

Hi all,

Thanks everyone for the help and the config files!!! So far I succeeded to share files to my Philips so I am able to start them from "browse network" option from the TV, but after a couple of days of a struggle with PMS I still have some questions.

First of all my TV is 32PFL3807H/12 with the latest firmware so far T921E 2.12. USB wireless adapter is PTA 01/00. I have installed PS3 Media Server 1.72.0 with Philips PHL3xx7 config.

1 Is it possible through PMS to play a file on my computer via some player and to see it simultaneously on the TV and if yes how and with which player?

2 I cannot play any subtitles with the current settings that I have. The subtitles (.sub) are in the same folder as the video (.mpg/.avi/.mkv), but still when I play the movie (from browse network) on the TV and (no encoding; external subtitles) there aren't any subtitles on the TV (subtitles are on). I tried with Cyrillic and Latin subtitles but to no avail. What should I do to play some subtitles?

3 Is it possible to stream a DVD?

Hi, I already did that and I used your config file, but still nothing shows. Is there anything else that I should do or save the file srt/sub in some specific way? By the way if I save the file as .srt, I do not get the option "external subtitles".
