PMS 1.7 issues

Postby sebas77 » Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:30 am

Hi,

I use PMS through wifi, my settings are usually 50mb/s - keyint=25:vqmax=5:vqmin=2
These settings usually works well with movies with resolution not higher than 720p.
However the new version 1.7 (all the revisions) do not allow me to play movie anymore with this configuration, since they stutter without any explanation.
I had to revert to 1.6

Follow the FAQ (specifically the part about using tsMuxeR from the #Transcode# folder, as the auto remux feature has been removed) - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&start=30#p42818

thank you for the quick reply....does that mean that I was not supposed to watch all the movies I watched so far with wi-fi connection? :?

to be clear, I am not asking why the movie is stuttering, I am asking why is stuttering with 1.7 and not with 1.6.

From some v1.7x version Autoswitching from MEncoder (transcoding) to tsMuxeR (remuxing) when file was compatible was removed.
Try playing file directly from TRANSCODE folder, [tsMuxeR] engine if stuttering will disappear.

thanks for the answer, I know it can sound incredible, but I actually use subtitles, so my movies are most of the time transcoded. I do not suffer any stutter if I play DVD res movies, I most of the time can watch 720p movies. This happens only with 1.6 though, with 1.7 I have stuttering 100% of the time.

Anyway I have bought a pair of 500Mbps powerline sockets, let's see if the things improve :)

Hi,

I need to rectify my previous posts. I have installed again PMS 1.7 because the powerline sockets are awesome and I am able to stream with PMS 1.6, transcoding, even with low compression settings. However doing so I remembered what the real problem with PMS 1.7 was. PMS 1.7 does not stutter, it instead skips enormous portion of movies at once! It happens 100% of times and even after few minutes the movie is playing.

I have windows 7

There's a FAQ for that too - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&start=30#p38969
