Peak bitrate what does it mean?

On status page, I see peak bitrate of 1123Mb/s. I'm on 1Gig LAN, banwidth limit of 512, since trance always said reported transfer rate 512 never 1gig. I notice that if my peak rate go up that high during movie streaming, i'll have some kind of problems. Does this have to do with the transcode settings ?
