Stretched Video

Postby joako » Sat Dec 11, 2010 2:26 am

I am streaming MPEG1 videos to Sony Bravia EX TV. As far as I know there should be no transcoding taking place, but when the video plays on the TV it is not the same aspect ratio as on a PC. All the settings on the TV don't resolve this issue. How can I stream the video 1:1?

Honestly it seems the solution is throw away the TV. The networking support is almost not existent in this series.

Solved with this entry in PMS.conf (Windows):
Code: Select all
mencoder_decode = -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16\/9,dsize=4\/3
Sony Bravia KDL-46EX501 | Sony BDP-S373 | Sony SMP-N100 |Serviio / PS3MS | Buffalo 2Share DD

If your tv is 16/9 which it most likely is, then i'd put follwíng in mencoder codec-specific options:
Code: Select all
(width/height < 1.75 || width/height > 1.79) :: -vf expand=::::1:16/9

This put bars on anything that is outside 16/9..
