LG SP520 - Help building a profile?

Postby caltd » Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:40 am

Hi all - first, thanks for rolling this package - it's greatly appreciated.

I'm a new user but have searched extensively for device specific info for my LG SP520, and can't seem to find it here. So I'm hoping I can get a nudge in the right direction from you all and maybe help someone else with the same device in the process.

In reading these forums, the manuals, the help files, et cetera, it seems that I need a device-specific "Alternative Media Renderer" for my set top box.

I was able to find an older post (quoted & linked below) which provided a profile that seems to work, but I'm guessing it could be better. My device is, again, the LG SP520.

Tech specs: http://www.lg.com/us/blu-ray-players/lg-SP520-network-media-player/technical-specifications

Is there any possibility of getting some help with setting up a device specific profile, rather than the one written for the other LG Smart TV?

Or, in comparing this to the tech specs, is the profile I've found pretty much perfect and the rest of my tweaks should be elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

I take no credit for the config file, as I found it somewhere else, but it was the first and last thing I had to try to get mine working.

  1. Quit Playstation Media Server
  2. Create a text file in your PS3 Media Server\renderers folder called LGSmartTV.conf
  3. Open the file you created with Notepad. (or any other text editor)
  4. Add the following text to the file.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Start PMS back up and it should show your TV as one of the devices found.

Code: Select all

Awsome - much appreciated. Seems that I did read through that but had forgotten about it as I initially thought my errors were due to another issue. Will work through that process after the holidays.

Thanks again for the help!
