Won't start up

Postby StimpyMK2 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 1:59 pm

Media server doesn't even get through the launch. Then quits.

Only log info is in Java>logback.xml

Ok, I've been through all of the suggested items - Running latest Java - 7 update 09 (java version "1.6.0_37"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06-434-11M3909)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.12-b01-434, mixed mode) and PMS 1.72.0 (reinstalled)
Have checked not running in headless mode.
The program doesn't even generate a debug.log I only have logback.xml and the logback.headless.xml files
The application support/PMS folder is empty even after I try to launch the program.
I cannot find any PMS.bat or PMS.sh files either.

The .sh file is in the application working directory, which for OSX should be inside the application. I do not use OSX, so unfortunately I can't help you more there.
Once you do find the .sh file, follow the directions in the FAQ post for running the .sh file and posting the output.

Yep, I know where the PMS lives but no .sh file is there.

It's as if the program never get close to even setting itself up. It animates in the dock the name appears in the top bar and then it just quits!

So... Does the log file say anything useful?

On OSX, you will find the log file here:

Code: Select all
/Applications/PS3 Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/Java/debug.log

The directory is hidden, so to open a Finder use CMD + SHIFT + G and paste the path in there.

So....as I keep saying no debug log is even created, nix, narda. nothing.

The icon animates, hangs around for about2-3 secs and then just drops off.

The program appears to not even get itself going. I'm running the latest everything.

Indeed. That is strange.
Any useful system log messages in the Utilities > Console perhaps?
