PS3MS and Samsung smart tv

Postby JohnM » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:32 pm

Hi,

Have been using PS3 MS for a long time now, but have been using the PS3.

I got me a Samsung 55" ES8005 today, and I would love to access all my videos on my TV, but just can't see a way to find a guide that helps me out.

Is there anyone that got a clue?
And maybe could guide me in the right direction?

Would really appreciate it!

Nice set you've bought yourself;-) This TV had a lot of capabilities and is supported when you install the latest version of PMS. Just connect it to your wireless network and use the AllShare client in the Smart Hub to browse your PMS through DLNA. There are however a couple of issues when transcoding (like with ISO's) which you can read about in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8889

Hi slooff,

Thanx for the reply.
That did the trick! :D
I was looking for PMS in Sources, but when looking in AllShare, there it was! :D
Not so fast as the PS3 though..
It could not handle 1080p videoes.. Maybe it is because of the 100MBit connection on the TV?

Good to hear. I have an ES7000 connected wirelessly (300Mbit) to to my 1Gbit network where my PMS server is. I can play 1080p mkv files without any issue, even with subtitles (external srt files), so you should be able to do so as well. Is your TV connected wired?

Yes, it is connected wired. But I read some place that the LAN connection on the TV is only 100Mb. I can play 720, but 1080 just don't seam to start on the TV. Only on the PS3.

Hmmm, the TV is certainly capable of playing 1080p mkv files. Also, 100mbit wired should be more than enough and the server should be able to handle this easily because with the Samsung profile there is no transcoding going on. Maybe you can check whether there is a network config issue or bad cables etc.. Other option if you have a recent wifi router, is to see how the TV behaves when it connects over wifi?

PS3 Media server gets detected by the TV, all the media files are showing, but as soon as i try to play any of the formats - the error pops up:
Not Supported File Format

Getting the message while trying to play .avi, .mp3, .mp4, .jpg....all audio, video and photo files.

How did you manage to have it working.
