If you copy the Javaw.exe file from your WIndows 7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin/
Directory ...then edit and copy the PSM.bat file with notepad to change the heap size from 768 to something else...depending on your RAM like
start javaw -Xmx1536M -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -classpath update.jar;pms.jar net.pms.PMS
It seems to help immensely with stuttering problems in some situations. Especially PS3 streaming.
So here is my question. Why isn't this the default for PS3 media server? Should I go higher than 1536? Are there any other tweaks that I should be applying from a computer that is fairly up to date (Geforce 560M and 8 gigs of RAM on an Intel i7 quad) in order to experience more robust streaming?
Sorry for my ignorance here. Guide me PS3Media Jedi's.
