High 10@L5.1 mp4s

I have a few High 10@L5.1 mp4s, and PMS will stream them over to the PS3, but the PS3 does not natively support these files, and I will get a "Data not Supported" error. I then have to force transcode them over, which is not a big issue really. But I was wondering if PMS can detect such files as High 10@L5.1 and automatically transcode them, like it does for mkv's and other files.

I'd like to second this request.

Can we have PS3MediaServer check the profile of a video stream before deciding if it can play natively with a simple remux or if it needs to be transcoded?

I have some videos that are regular (8-bit) h264 but are level 5.0, which exceeds the abilities of my renderer (a Sony Blu-ray player), which can only play back up to level 4.1 AVC video.

The algorithm is already there. It is not true that level is limiting but it is RefFrames.
16 ref frames for 1080p (as level 5.1 supports) is too much for HW decoding but it is OK for 720p. This is counted in PMS direcly and then makes right decision.

I just wanted to say my issue isn't with the video being streamed as-is when it shouldn't it turns out.

The blu-ray player was failing to play back the above file, and I thought it was because PS3MediaServer was trying to stream the original video track when it needed to be transcoded. The real issue was the audio, which is 5.1 channel FLAC. PS3MediaServer is failing to work on files where the audio cannot be handled natively by the player when I have it set to use LPCM instead of transcoding the unsupported audio into AC3. I was getting the "corrupt file" message.

But when I turn off the LPCM (no recode) option the audio gets redone in AC3 and now playback works.
