Subtitles automatic problem

Hi I have the new version of pms 1.70.1 installed on Windows 7. I have disabled subtitles in "Common Transcode Settings, turned off "Auto load .srt/.sub subtitles" The file I am trying to play an mkv file but it is defaulting to turning on subs no matter what. If I go into the transcode folder I can choose mencoder without subtitles but I'm wandering if I am able to make that my default with no subtitles ? I have tried deleting forced in mencoder but it did nothing. Can anyone help I have my mencoder settings that I don't know how to play with, if that is how I change it.
