Changing name displayed in dlna devices

Postby artatum » Wed Oct 03, 2012 6:57 pm

Hi
I'd like to change the name I see in my DLNA TV. I've got 4 PCs with videos, and I'm ending with :
PS3 Media Server
PS3 Media Server
PS3 Media Server
PS3 Media Server
in my dlna server's choice !
Nowhere in the UI...
At least I'd like to know in which file the name is stored. I've looked in the folder up with EditHexa and found nothing into .jar .exe .dll etc.
I'm in Win7 64bits.
...

You can change the profile name of a server in the PMS.conf.

But I didn't find any PMS.conf ... I've looked also in "renderers"... I've seen PS3.conf only... but there is no string saying "PS3 Media Server" in it...
WHere can I find PMS.conf please ?

Ok, I've found it. Thx. But do you know the magic line I should add to display a customised label in my Client TV ?

Well I've read... I've edited programdata/PMS/PMS.conf and there is only lines of this shape :
bla_bla_bli = .....
and in the one you show I've found
# PS3 Media Server [profile_name]
where there is no " = " ...
So I imagine I need smth else....
SO If someone see...

Here it is again, bolded and underlined for reading comprehension. If that line (and only that line) does not exist in your PMS.conf file, you need to add it (with whatever name you want to use appended to the end of it).
PMS.conf wrote:# Profile Name
# --------------
# An optional identifier used to distinguish this profile (i.e. collection of settings)
# from other profiles. The profile name is displayed in the renderer in square
# brackets after the software name e.g.
#
# PS3 Media Server [myprofile]
#
# See the FAQ for details on how to create and use multiple profiles:
# viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&p=49895#p49895
# Default: the server's hostname.
name =
