delay in audio - no subtitle after updating

Postby alolo » Fri Aug 10, 2012 4:13 pm

Hello all,
Ive been using ps3 media server 1.50.0 for a long time. everything seemed to be perfect ( audio, subtitle) except that i used to get some lags when playing 1080p mkv movies. I decided to update to 1.60.0 and got many problems.

a huge audio delay when playing the movie
no subtitles any more ( i usually put the srt file in the same folder as the movie

the only good thing about it that that no more lags any more

is there is any solution for this ??

thanks alot

Subtitles broken since 1.60.0

Postby knuweb » Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:40 pm

Hello guys, thanks for the update on this great software.
Since 1.60 and 1.70 i do have problems with the subtitles.
It used to work before, now it tells me there's no subtitles available.
I use OSX Lion and ps3 both with the latest updates.

Regards

Anything useful in the debug.log?

I don't think so, it just reads "[StartPlaying Event] renderer: 192." with the IP and the name of the file, and then "[StopPlaying Event] renderer: 192.".
Inbetwen those 2 actions, I tried to activate the subtitles with the PS3 dual shock. "There's no subtitles available" was written on the screen.

That only works for XSUBs i.e. soft subtitles embedded in DivX videos.

It used to work before

Please zip and attach the MediaInfo dump for the file along with your PMS.conf and debug log: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=496

I just wanted to add that I just switched from using my PC with PS3 Media Server to a Mac Mini, and I was very surprised to find that regardless of what I did, subtitles would not work on the Mac, even though if I launch the PC version, the very same files display fine.

EDIT:

The temporary solution I found was to get PS3 Media Server 1.54 for OS X. Subtitles work fine in that version.

Also, these threads report the exact same problem:

@eobet and knuweb: have you checked this thread to see whether the solution there helps in your case?

Subtitles not working at all?

Postby __aa » Tue Sep 11, 2012 11:37 pm

Hello.

I'm running OS X 10.6.8, and PMS 1.70.1, running it from a MacBook to an Xbox 360. First time using PMS.

Currently no subtitle files work at all, on multiple files. It's named correctly, in the same folder, and it registered by the server as having subtitles (or so I think) as the file names for the videos on the 360 are "Hiroshima Mon Amour.avi [MEncoder] {External Subtitles}" for example.

In traces, nothing comes up as anything to worry about:

Code: Select all
INFO  2012-09-11 23:08:46.868 [New I/O server worker #1-1] Starting transcode/remux of Hiroshima Mon Amour.avi
INFO  2012-09-11 23:08:53.042 [StartPlaying Event] renderer: 192.168.0.5, file: /Users/Aaron/Desktop/ah/Hiroshima Mon Amour.avi
INFO  2012-09-11 23:09:04.405 [StopPlaying Event] renderer: 192.168.0.5, file: /Users/Aaron/Desktop/ah/Hiroshima Mon Amour.avi

I'm at a big loss, and would appreciate any help! I've Googled so much but no-one seems to have an answer.

Cheers
