I recently installed the Java security 1.7.0.7 update from Oracle on Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
Now when I try to run PS3 Media Server I get a dialog:
Cannot launch “PS3 Media Server”
No compatible version of Java 1.6+ is available.
I don't have Java 6 installed anymore. How come the media server doesn't work with Java 7 as it's backwards compatible with Java 6?
Is there some sort of file denoting the Java versions which are acceptable.
I've looked in the package file and I see two files:
JavaApplicationStub and JavaApplicationStub.env in Contents/MacOS.
The first file seems to be binary and the second file seems to be a text file in which I export JAVA_HOME to a Java 6 installation but with no success. I know that PMS 1.7 is compatible with Java 7 as I've run on Ubuntu without any problems so there seems to be some hardcoded behaviour for the Mac OS X distibution.
How can this be fixed? I don't want to downgrade to Java 6 just to get the media server working.
Thanks in advance for any information offered.
