core dumps on smbmount

Postby prioryjim » Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:59 am

I have a Sony Bravia TV, very picky on what it will play.
I also have a Humax FoxSat, very nice PVR, it produces "TS" video files.
Tried ps3mediaserver on Linux and was impressed to find it transcoded the TS files and the Sony Actually played them OK.
They even worked off USB mounted drives.
So I am chuffed!

The final setup would be as follows and would save me ftping files around:-
The Humax has a Samba Add On so I mounted this on my Linux server using smbmount, seemed OK.
Ps3mediaserver saw the mount and showed some of the directories.
But when I went to open a video directory it "core dumped" after some moments.

Anyone else seen this happen or used smbmount drives ???
Thanks
Jim

In /etc/default
there is a config file.
It has Java memory size at 700ish Meg
Up this to 2000 Meg and restarted.
Made no difference, still core dumped when access the smbmount.

Sounds like an issue with smbmount. According to http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/mounting- ... -cifs.590/ your PVR should support CIFS, so the "standard" mount using CIFS type should be sufficient.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

OK thanks will look into CIFS.
Probably at the weekend as the wife hogs the TV at the evening.
Currently Olympics crap.

Tried
mount -t cifs //foxsat/media /foxsat -o username=myname,password=mypass
And ls showed the humaxs media directory with photo, video directories and I could list files in these OK and read them.
But as soon as I tried to open the video directory vi my sony TV/ps3mediaserver it core dumped again.
I can attach the crash log if that's possible.
Thanks
