Bravia HX820

Here is a config file i've been working on for my Bravia 55HX820. (should work for other HX TVs) Have most everything working the way I want it (mkv and others transcoding, mp4 streaming, etc) and figured I might be saving others some hassle by sharing.

You may need to remove your stock BraviaEX file in the renderers folder in order for this file to pickup properly.

Your BraviaHX.conf resembles the BraviaEX.conf very much.
So much in fact, that I wonder if the current BraviaEX.conf can't support both types.

The only real differences (ignoring the deprecated lines) between the two are:

was removed,

was added, and

Supported = f:mp4|mov v:mp4|h264 a:ac3|aac m:video/mp4

had "mov" added.

Yep, very similar. The EX file is what the HX/PSM choses as default on a non-altered PSM install. The MP4 line made the biggest difference for my library. MP4 files would not load (black screen) and eventually crash TV/PSM using the EX file. I imagine this was because they were being forced to transcode - definitely no bueno as the TV can stream these natively.

I don't see too many threads regarding HX sets, so hopefully other members have some good ideas/suggestions. Suppose there might also be some relevant posts in the large Bravia post, but it's just too large to sift through.

"TranscodeExtensions= " Overrides the "Supported" lines. So added extensions will be forcefully transcoded.

The "supported" lines of the BraviaEX.conf exactly match the PS3.conf.
I can not believe the native support match exactly both renderers.

I would say, test/debug the "supported" lines for best native support.
Use the program MediaInfo for read out the video/audio codec, bitrate etc. of used media files.

Refer to PS3.conf for help for all possible settings.

Sensational worked a treat updated to 1.52.1 and removed the bravia conf and added yours now working perfectly. I have MKV set not to encode as my Sony BD player plays them naturally so now I only have to watch MKVs on that.

Question is, what if you have lets say a EX and HX serie in your house? There should be a way to make all of them work right?

Only if PMS can distinguish between the EX and HX series. In practice, this means they would have to send different headers.
Which, by the way, might be the case, judging by the regular expression.

Judging by my reply it looked almost exactly the same as the BraviaEX.conf. The diffs are in my posting.
