It will never be "fixed" because upstart system used for daemon management in new packages is absent from Debian. We need proper Debian build.

I prefer someone to take the role of debian maintainer. Necessary changes to packaging scripts are trivial.
Even if I build one myself it'll be hard for me to maintain debian packages up to date in the future because a) I don't have Debian system b) Debian lacks convenient build and distribution / repository infrastructure like ubuntu's launchpad.
