PS3MS runs as root in Ubuntu

Hi All,

I am running Ubuntu server, non GUI.

PS3MS runs as root ?
How do I change it to run as a user?

Remember, no GUI, so I need to know which scripts I need to modify?

these are not working on ubuntu.
The init.d is run by root. there must be some way to tell it to not to run as root.

You should edit /etc/default/ps3mediaserver file. Please re-read linked post.

this is not working for ubuntu. i have tried the changes.
HINT: this is because /etc/init.d/ps3mediaserver has $NAME (="ps3mediaserver)

You are using outdated build. New init.d scripts are available for Ubuntu 12.04 and 11.10 only.

i upgraded my installation to 12.4
but /etc/init.d/ps3mediaserver is unchanged.

That's strange. Delete ps3mediaserver with sudo apt-get purge ps3mediaserver, make sure you are installing from ppa:happy-neko/ps3mediaserver and then sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ps3mediaserver

You should get PS3 Media Server 1.53.99-mencoder34587-2. Current version is reported in first line of debug.log (/var/log/ps3mediaserver/USER/debug.log).
