Any idea?

BTW.. it's strange that it says cannot run mplayer because not found...

But I followed http://www.markinthedark.nl/news/ubuntu ... y-nas.html
to install mplayer using SVN.

Please kindly advice. Thanks!

I lost my time compiling mplayer. Couldn't figure the good options .
I would advise you to use happy necko's binaries. Look on the forum.

cheers

You can download deb package here https://launchpad.net/~happy-neko/+arch ... /+packages (chose i386 or amd64 according to your CPU), open it with any archive manager ("deb" is renamed tar archive) and grab all binaries from usr/lib/ps3mediaserver/linux/.

Hi Everyone,

It's me again. :P

I'm still trying to make PMS work on my Synology DS-411+

I've used my limited knowledge about Linux to compile, install... everything (I hope)

PMS is now on, but every time I tried to play *MENCODER* videos.. I see the Synology console show error.

Sorry that I've forgotten to copy the error, but I remember it says the GLIBC version is too low or something.

Maybe later I fill you guys up with the error message.

But so far, anyone have idea how to fix this?

BTW.. the 411+ is Intel chip.

Thanks a lot guys!!

P.S.: following is the versions of "things" I've installed...
Code: Select all
ejre-1_6_0_32-fcs-b05-linux-i586-headless-05_apr_2012.tar.gz
MPlayer-1.1.tar.xz
MediaInfo_CLI_0.7.58_GNU_FromSource.tar.bz2
libffi-3.0.11.tar.gz
pms-generic-linux-unix-1.53.0.tgz
libjna-java_3.2.7-4_i386.deb

Hi guys, of the people that where able to get PS3MS working, have you have any luck transcoding videos on 720p, say mkv files?
PS3 sucks and wont play mkv's, and all my videos are in mkv.

From QNAP, their ARM base NAS is unable to support PS3 Media anymore, so they only release it on the intel base models, which cost 500-700$ or more.
Users said PS3 Media server can run in ARM based platforms but CANT transcode videos. Have you been able to do so in the Synology ARM based systems? if yes, how??

Code: Select all
benzaza - tricky answer ... you can run ps3 media server on the TS-219 but tsmuxer is closed source and it has been only released for the x86 platform, so you wont be able to do any remuxing and transcoding via mencoder is out of the question due to the low processing power.
I would suggest going for a TS-239, you will be much more satisfied with your investment.

thanks

Hello!

First things first, great work from everybody in here who is active and all.

I've been following all the threads on every forum about PMS on the Synology NAS.
I have gone trough the detailed tutorial by Mark and haven't been able to get the PMS to work on my DS212j.

I've tried and tried for two days without any success im getting the libzen error don't know why i am getting errors while I'm "compiling" (make) MediaInfo.

I wished that there was a simple SPK for this, I'm on OSX and apt-get commands are quite a hassle for a noob like me, installed Macports and XCode and X11.
Still getting issues, getting really frustrated but its still fun to learn commands etc. I've pastebined my debug.loghttp://pastebin.com/Cq5vpriB.

Would be awesome if somebody could help me, thanks!

Looks like the "mplayer" binary is either not installed, not in your path or not in the place where PMS would expect it.
I'm not on Linux myself, alas I don't know the best location for it, sorry.
