ESPN3?

Discuss third-party additions, plugins and translations for PS3 Media Server

ESPN3?

Postby slondo1 » Sat May 26, 2012 9:04 pm

I'm a loyal advocate of PMS, I've informed so many people about it and hooked them on it. However, I'm hoping someone can develop an ESPN plug in. Playon seems to have it solved, but that's a pay service and I'm not all about that. PMS 4eva!

As far as I can tell, Playon doesn't have any exclusive rights with ESPN, they just copy over the streams from espn3.com and make them playstation suitable. Is there any reason PMS can't do this? I'd definitely be willing to donate if someone could come up with one. Apologies if this has been discussed before.

Jumpy can run the xbmc ESPN3 addon from the bluecop repo in pms.

Euro 2012

Postby kod » Tue May 29, 2012 12:52 am

Hi,

Please shine some light on how to watch Euro games utilizing PS3 Media server on a TV? Other alternatives are welcome too.

1. PS3 via PS3 Media server
2. iPad 2 with HDMI out/but flash isn't supported

Those are two options, obviously i can use a computer, but connectivity isn't not going to be easy - would prefer PS3 via HDMI if that can be done. I can get to ESPN360 but again this won't work via PS3 Media server only via PC. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Isn't ESPN360 just the old name for ESPN3? If so, then same answer as above. To elaborate, the easiest way to try it in Windows is:

  • install PMS-SHB, which has jumpy and everything else you need.
  • install xbmc (see XBMC Installation in the jumpy top post) and also the xbmc ESPN3 addon from the bluecop repo.
  • Start up PMS-SHB and navigate to Jumpy > [xbmc] ESPN > etc. Note that pmsencoder will transcode the stream to 720x480 , not HD.

infidel - please let me know if you require more info and I'll PM you logs, etc.

Installed PS3 Media Server-SHB 1.52.2-SHB43 / build: 7a3081bca (2012-04-29)
Installed XBMC (Version 11) I verified ESPN steaming just fine
Extracted pms-jumpy-0.1.7.zip to plugin folder on N:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server-SHB\plugins
Extracted: repository.bluecop.xbmc-plugins.zip to: N:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\addons\
Installed python-2.7.2.amd64.msi to: N:\Program Files (x86)\Python27
Edit system variable Path --> N:\Program Files (x86)\Python27)

When I view JUMPY | [xmbc] ESPN | Replays 10 days | Soccer and try any one of the listed games I get no content (only Add Bookmark*). Found this in jump.log [jumpy] Adding unresolved item: Spain vs. Serbia (English) among other replays. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, thanks again for getting me one step closer.

Your install looks good (you didn't need to install python27 separately btw, it comes with PMS-SHB). Please confirm that pmsencoder is present inside your plugins folder (just checking, no reason it shouldn't be there), set logging to TRACE and attach a zip of your PMS.conf + logs made with the DbgPack plugin (which also comes with PMS-SHB). Attach it here, since a pm doesn't allow attachments

pmscoder - installation confirmed N:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server-SHB\plugins\pmsencoder-1.5.12.jar
If i try hulu or ABC content is there, but it won't stream - after few min "corrupted data".

Thanks again for your help!

  • you have two versions of jumpy loaded, remove jumpy-0.1.6.jar from plugins, leaving just 0.1.7.
    debug.log wrote:INFO 2012-05-30 10:09:42.392 [main] Found plugin: net.pms.external.infidel.jumpy.jumpy

  • replace your dbgpack.jar with dbgpack_O20 (not your fault but mine, jumpy.log and pmsencoder.log are probably missing due to recent "improvements" to dbgpack by myself :))
  • restart pms and try an espn3 soccer stream and post a new dbgpack zip (should contain PMS.conf, debug.log, jumpy.log, pmsencoder.log).

We are getting closer....

1. I did what you suggested and was able to view content, however it won't play "data corrupted" so I took a snapshot of the logs, attached as pms_dbg.zip

2. So i decided to reboot, now the PMS won't see my PS3 or vice versa, logs: pms_dbg2.zip

If i try to open one of the log files with either Win 7 (64bit) or 7-zip i get an error message "can't open file pms_dbg.zip as archive - not sure if why. Perhaps you used a different compression utility.
