Panasonic TX-P46G30E aspect issue

Hi,
I have a Panasonic TX-P46G30E and I try to use it as a media player but some files seem to have wrong size and aspect.
for example a 1280x536 mkv appears as 4:3.
I also own a PS3 which renders these files absolutely fine, but I want to use my TV.

I tried to fiddle with the Expert settings, such as
width == 1280 && height == 536 :: -vf scale=1920:804
(as for a correct 2.35:1 aspect), but without succes.

Anyi ideas?

I have been having the same problem with my brand new TC-P50X3. I have searched the forum and applied all of the recommended settings, but with no results. The newer Panasonic TV's have a new version and can even play MKV's natively. However, I am always stuck with 4:3 aspect ratio, which is quite annoying. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know!

I'm in the same boat. Mine bascially squeezes the whole image into the frame so it always looks distorted. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I've got the same problem. My TX42LETW5 shows no black bars. I've tried it with and without

CustomMencoderOptions=-vf softskip,expand=::::1:16\/9:4

I added this line in the conf file below the line for the CustomMencoderQualitySettings, but it doesn't change the aspect ratio. Are we missing something? I read in another thread that MediaInfo=false instead of true helped, but it didn't for me. Am i doing something wrong here?

Yes, you didn't provided debug.log.
I suppose you are streaming/remuxing instead of transcoding so MEncoder params are ignored.
