How to change transcoding /muxing settings in PMS.conf

Postby nico1375 » Sat May 05, 2012 4:57 pm

Hello,

I compiled ffmpeg & mplayer / mencoder with support for xvid & x264.
But ps3ms still refuse to let me play those files.

So I suppose I might want to modify transcoding settings.

But I have a headless server, which means graphical interface is not available.

I tried to look at PMS.conf but I did not understand which part I have to modify.

Anyone kind enough to help me?

I'm trying to have pms working for 10 days, I'm fed up with trying without probing results.

As I wrote in the other thread:

Raptor399 wrote:Recently we updated the default PMS.conf to contain almost all options plus an explanation.
Maybe you will find it helpful.

I'm not entirely sure why you ended up compiling your own binaries. That should not be necessary and you could in fact be missing out on SubJunk's SB features.

What problems are you facing?
Can you supply more info?

Plus I have for each file I try to play, the infamous :

ERROR 2012-05-05 18:02:00.658 [New I/O server worker #1-6] There is no inputstream to return for Blue.Bloods.S02E17.HDTV.XviD-FQM.avi [MEncoder] {External Subtitles}

Corrected now. AVIs work.

Ok, more info :)

The computer : Nas Synology DS1511+ (Intel Atom D525 @1.8GHz), 1GB Ram, linux. (DSM4)

Streaming to a PS3

Network setup : NAS -->Router Netgear >>CPL -->CPL -->PS3. This shouldn't be a problem because I can see all files.

Which engine for transcoding ? I don't know. I don't know if and where I can select it.

What is not working? --> I I can't play any mkv file. Sound & subs work, but I have a grey screen.

Please let me know if you have more info about my impossibility to play mkv & x264

The Mediainfo output :

Easy answer. Don't use your buggy MEncoder compile which spam whole your log ;)
Use Latest SubJunk build and install MediaInfo library which is missing as log says.

Yes, I'm recompiling mediainfolib, it seems I just had a static version, forgot to enable shared...
regarding mencoder it complies well and find the required libs so I don't know what the problem is.

I'm gonna try SubJunk build...

Ok, mediainfo is now correctly installed & found.
I have same problems with latest SubJunk build (SB71)

Never saw these kind of errors(I am on WIN)
MEncoder SVN-r34883-4.2.1 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Team

I suppose you are still using your custom build and not SubJunk one. On WIN MEncoder is announced differently:
MEncoder SB32 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Team

Am I right you are still using your custom MEncoder build?
