.mp4 / multiple AAC audio tracks, wrong language track used.

Postby leroy » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:55 pm

Hi all,

I have noticed a bug, with PMS 1.52.0 and most previous versions.

When playing a mp4 with multiple AAC audio tracks through MEncoder, the right language track is not used.
Same error happens when select the audio language by using the #--TRANSCODE--# folder.

For example if I select by using the transcode folder [MEncoder]{Audio:AAC/English} with the file
"1Video_2audio_2SUPs_timed_text_streams_.mp4", the German audio track is played.

I searched the issues, and forum but could not find that this error was already noticed by someone.
By testing older official and SubJunk builds, only oficial builds 1.40.0-b2 and 1.40.0 works correct.

Sample mp4 test files with multiple AAC audio tracks:
http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/MPEG-4/embedded_subs/1Video_2Audio_2SUBs_timed_text_streams_.mp4
http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/test_files/Zero1-MP4-Feature-Test.mp4

MediaInfo mp4/aac files with same behavior:
MediaInfo mp4 multiple aac.zip
MediaInfo mp4 multiple AAC

I hope this could be resolved, so PMS be even more better. 8-)

What I remember old MEncoder builds wrongly identified audio tracks so choosing track 1, track 2 was played etc.
This was fixed in PMS itself. So if MEncoder was fixed in this behavior, the workaround should be removed again but who know...we need debug.log when you played this file.

You are right ExSport , by choosing track 1, track 2 is played etc.;)
I have done more testing, here the results:

(1Video_2Audio_2SUBs_timed_text_streams_.mp4)
Track order: -- Played:
1 English ----> German
2 German ---> German

(Zero1-MP4-Feature-Test.mp4)
1 English -----> Japanese
2 Japanese --> English
3 English -----> Japanese
4 Japanese --> English ?? (here I expect Japanese)

(big sister.mp4) (MediaInfo see 1th post)
1 English ---> French
2 French ---> Irish
3 Irish ------> Dutch
4 Dutch -----> Dutch

(MAIN MOVIE.mp4) (MediaInfo see 1th post)
1 English ----> German
2 German ---> Spanish
3 Spanish ---> Finnish
4 Finnish ----> Finnish

Only with the 4th audio track differs with the file "Zero1-MP4-Feature-Test.mp4".
It has AAC (track 1 and 2) and HE-AAC (track 3 and 4) audio tracks.

Debug file show the result were i played only the 1th audio track for each file,
by using the #--TRANSCODE--# folder with PMS 1.52.1
debug.zip
