Why to transcode original audio

Because it offers superior A/V sync.
As for previous versions of mencoder you are wrong. I had several test files that play out of sync with ac3 remux regardless of mencoder version (both win and linux). It is even worse with avi files, thank God it usually not necessary to transcode them.

To solve these problems once and for all I think we should consider switching from mencoder to ffmpeg for audio tracks extraction. It is way more reliable.

I am not wrong I am sure. Maybe on your computer, with your specific settings you had problems but as I said I tested more than 200 different files on 4 different PC/renderers and it worked without problems. But as I said because lot of my files have audio delays I used -mc 0.005 which made perfect A/V sync also with older MEncoder builds(also when tsMuxer engine was used because audio is extracted with MEncoder).
It worked with AVI(XviD/MP3/AC3) and also MKV(h264/AC3/MP3/DTS)
So who is wrong? FIGHT!

I'm trying to build SB25 with ffmpeg 0.9.1 and its not working.

Can you tell me now for this particular version (SB25)?
I found this commit on github https://github.com/ps3mediaserver/ps3me ... a784a3d940 but this ffmpeg version (d3f81a67008b6418b9f22d865294898915fb3ad8) is used for all new mencoder builds including SB28. So if new bugs are ffmpeg related I doubt reverting mencoder to SB25 can help.

I added them I should mention that ExSport and I are already testing different builds for this bug so you might want to avoid doing our duplicate work

Thank you. I'm waiting for results.
For now I switched way back to SB22 / ffmpeg 0.9.1. Ffmpeg releases usually are very stable.

Question.

If I install SubJunk Build 68 of PMS, and over-write the mencoder/mplayer/ffmpeg with this Mencoder build:

Synchronised with r34728
Updated FFmpeg to 60991ad6ae61e131085891c37e8e517b5014ce21
Fixed the order of Hebrew subtitles (RTL instead of LTR)

Will I be okay? This is what you are doing, ExSport, right?

But SubJunk with me are testing new Mplayer/MEncoder builds so maybe he will release new one, stable one as SB25 was...hopefully
