PS3Mediaserver as service on Windows HOME SERVER, nothing

Postby Berlinois » Sat Mar 28, 2009 3:49 pm

Hi,

Firts all my apologies for my bad english.

I have installed on a computer a Windows Home Server. I also have installed the latest version of PS3Mediaserver and run it as a service, and is declared as exception in the rules of the windows firewall (I know it's not the best choice, but for the moment it's all I have).

But, when I turn on this computer, my PS3 doesn't see the ps3mediaserver.

To make it visible on the PS3, I must log in my WHS (I checked, the PS3Mediaserver service is on automatic on started) and disable the windows firewall.

And I also have to launch the PS3Mediaserver manually, and then it appears on my PS3.

Any ideas how I can fix this ?? I have built this computer so that I can have a server, and the purpose of it is not to log in as user but leave it running by itself

Another thing, the CPU is an athlon X2 4850e on a MotherBoard based on a AMD 780G chipset and a radeon HD3200, perfect for the 720P movies, but when I want to see movie in 1080P they are not correctly decoded and I have jerks.

Is it possible to use the videocard to decode and then send it on the network ??

TIA for your answers.

EDIT : My computer

Athlon X2 4850e, Gigabyte 780G with Radeon HD 3200, 2MB, Windows Home Server, PS3Mediaserver 1.10.51, gigabit network, PS3, XBOX 360.

Add wrapper.exe to the firewall rules as well. I think you may also need to have the "Allow service to interact with desktop" checked (under the Logon tab in the service Properties window) inorder to have the service run when no user is logged in.

As far as GPU support for transcoding, it's currently only possible (and still limited to just H264) with AviSynth, CoreAVC Professional, and new nVidia cards with CUDA functionality.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

In this case it is necessary to use Windows Server 2003 Resource Tools Kit + AnyServiceInstaller
Install any Windows Home Server Application as a Service, to permit it to run without a user logged in:
Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

AnyServiceInstaller
http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php? ... showfile=7

If there will be difficulties esteem a forum on WHS :
http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php? ... eInstaller
