Thumbnail issues

Hey all, trying to figure out this thumbnail issue, couple of questions, do the movies need to each be in their own seperate folder to use thumbnails or can I have them all on 1 folder?

2nd, all my movies show up on the PS3 with the same thumbnail (an LMFAO record thumbnail?!? which I dont have on the harddrive) I would like to change it obviously or at the very least have NO thumbnails if I cant... I tried turning off thumbnails in the PS3 media server and they still show up, I tried selecting generate thumbnails and still the same thing...driving me nuts, I like the program but I cant get rid of this thumbnail!! any help!?!? thanks.

First issue:

You can have them in the same folder as the movie, or in the Alternate Cover Art folder (check PMS GUI for this setting). As long as they are named the same as the movie, they should be visible.

I.E. Mymovie.mkv-----------------------Mymovie.jpg



Second issue:

There is most likely a .jpg or .png in the movie folder, named folder.jpg
If you don't see it in the folder, then you may have to "Show Hidden Files" in Windows. Once deleted, individual pairing of movie to appropriate cover art should take place......assuming you follow the above tips.

Until you get rid of this folder.jpg , it will take priority over individual cover art.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately it did not work, there is no folder.jpg or folder.png on the hard drive, I got excited for a moment... I am going to try making a new directory and moving a few movies to it and only go to the new directory and see what happens...frustrating... want to use it because I have a bunch of .mkv movies and media player 12 isn’t playing nicely with them, even with codecs WMP 12 will play them on the computer but will not add them to the library so the PS3 doesn’t see them... PMS serves them fine just the icons don’t work maybe I’ll have to convert the .mkv's and use WMP if the new directory doesn’t resolve it...

Well erasing the folder and recreating it did the job, no more thumb nail issue, BUT I seem to have run across a cinavia issue with some of my movies so it seems I'm going to need to get myself a dedicated media server and get away from the PS3 and their control issues... pity, would of been nice to keep this setup... thanks for the help though!

it took a few tries, but creating a new folder and moving your videos to it DOES WORK. Thanks. For awhile, all my thumbnails were Barry Maguires Eve of Destruction single cover. random. couldn't find that file anywhere, its not even first alphabetically, didn't know why his cheezy 60's face was all up on my tv screen, but it seems to be fixed now, thanks for the help
