I have the same problem as jbrockville, (i'm using Samsung LE37C650) it doesn't load the subtitles on avi files but when i'm playing *.mkv file subtitles are displayed. Additionally, after the movie title there is "[MEncoder] {External subtitles}" in mkv files. Another thing, when i'm using my PS3 for watching movies subtitles are displayed in all video files (at least in avi and mkv). So my conclusion that some config must be wrong. Can someone help?

Hi all,

I have a problem with my PS3 Media Server and my Samsung UE40D5000. I got the PS3 MS installed, and it's up and running. The streaming of movies seems to be working fine, I've watched multiple 1080 files without any problems.

However, I wanted to play LoTR and it started stuttering, I've been trying around a bit and I think I got the problem narrowed down to the bitrate. The movie has a bitrate of 33 Mbps, and it seems my TV won't cope with that, and wants it max 25 Mbps.

First question here, is this reasoning correct?

Second problem that arises, I want to transcode the movie so it lowers it's Mbps, however when I start transcoding (MEncoder) it crashes after a few seconds and the PS3 MS disconnects from my TV.

It says my peak bitrate 781.218 MB/s.

Last question, I'm new to this so it could be I'm just failing with the way I use PS3 MS. I have the PS3 MS configured that it reads my [D:\Downloads\All Share] for files. When I select the movie from that foler on my TV it seems to just start streaming without transcoding, so I navigate to the 'Transcode' folder and select the movie from there.

My setup:
i7 3.4 Ghz (using 8 cores to transcode)
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series (2 GB)
Wired Connection via Gigabit Linksys Router
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (fully up-to-date)
All programs are up-to-date (PS3 MS) and 64 bit where possible (Java)

Any ideas on how to fix my problem?

Hi Flicc, I picked up the same problems as you when I first tried to use PMS with my Samsung.

If transcoding still crashes, then try to fine tune the MaxBuffer and Java heap memory (see the FAQ). Setting these values too high or too low can cause problems.

I have seemed to get the video streaming under control. The setting proposed in the previous post didn't help alot, but what did help was changing some settings in my router and network card configuration. Not sure which one did the trick, but I set my network card to work in 100Mbps half duplex (even though i'm on a wired gigabit network), and I have disabled uPNP on my router. Streaming of LotR works perfectly now.

However, I'm left with one problem. Audio stuttering with AC3 files. I have tried different AC3 audio bitrates, and tried with Remux AC3 on and off. All doesn't really seem to matter. The stutter seems to be worse for different files, but in general all AC3 files do stutter.

I don't have the problem with the LotR which uses a DTS audio stream, so it seems the problem really focusses around AC3 audio tracks.

The video in these movies is fine, and doesnt stutter or slow down or anything. It's just a tick/stutter in the audio stream.. Any ideas?

Hi,
I have just installed the newest 1.50.1 media server and trying it out with my UE40D7005LU.

For some reason I can't get subtitles in .mkv files to work - are they supposed to?
I'm not able to swith them on or off which I normally can with subtitles for .avi files

Do I need to modify some .conf file or anything?

Hi everyone..just starting to get into this since I got so sick of tvmobili..trying to get this to work with my Samsung UN46D8000, running on the mac version 1.50.1

It shows the samsung allshare renderer connected but on my TV when I go into the allshare app I get no devices connected.. anyone have any ideas? spent all morning in this thread but no luck...grr

I'm using PMS 1.50.1 to stream to Samsung BD-D5700, serving from iMac i3 (OS 10.6.8). Both are wirlessly connected to Linksys E4200. Latest upgrade solve my playback issues, i'm using default all-share conf file.

It works great for all video formats, i only have problems while playing TS Folders, from DVDs backed up, basically it can't forward or rewind (is not available), everything else ok, audio, subtitles, nice.

I just would like to be able to repeat a scene or jump to a specific time, without starting from the beginning. PS3 plays same TS Folders without problem, fwd or rwd or jump to. I know that i could just play them on the PS3, it's just that BD is located in a special area.

I've read fwd-rwd issue has been a problem, but since PS3 works fine, i don't know if some changes in the configuration or set up I'm missing.

Hey all I have a 55UD7900 that will not recognize the ps3media server

I'm running ubuntu = 11.10

PMS version = 1.50.2

have downloaded and used SamsungAllShare.conf

IE: SamsungAllShare No Mediainfo rev2.zip

and it still will not detect. any hints in here anyone?

How to go around AllShare to ALL samsung devices.... ?
Well My Samsung 55D8005 is orking great (but still no thumbs!)... Recognised as Samsung Allshare... BUT here is my problem...
I also have Samsung GalaxyS2, Samsung GalaxyS(mini tablet) and Samsung Galaxy 8,9 Tablet... When I connect to PS3 Mediaserver, using Samsung allshare... they are always recognised as Allshare... and NOT EVEN .AVI WORKS.... (or.MKV).. Not supported..

SO how to make this work? Should I use some other program than Allshare to view videos? Can those Android deviced be forced somehow to be recognised as ndroid nd create working android.conf? PS3Mediaserver says: "AllShare Like has ben found...." when connecting.
