Re: after 11.10 no workie

I was able to add the ppa to my sources (to do so simply add
Code: Select all
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/shiki/mediainfo/ubuntu oneiric main
to /etc/apt/sources.list)

I ran the purge to get rid of the broken install. Reinstalled and verified that I am using the latest versions that are listed on the page you linked to. I am still getting the
Code: Select all
[main] WARN  12:10:10.102 Error loading libzen: Unable to load library 'zen': libzen.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
error, and mp4 files are still not playing. Any other thoughts on where the issue might be?

I would follow the installation instructions rather than trying to do it manually. PPAs are meant to be signed.

You can try:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libzen0

What's the output of:

Code: Select all
ldd /usr/bin/mediainfo

?

I tried to follow those instructions, but there is no add-apt-repository command. Adding it to the sources.list was the best I could do.

You can try:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libzen0

result:
Code: Select all
 Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libzen0 is already the newest version.
libzen0 set to manually installed.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

and from when I installed it earlier:
Code: Select all
Setting up libzen0 (0.4.22-1ubuntu1)

It is at the most current version

What's the output of:

Code: Select all
 linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x00007fff49fec000)
        libmediainfo.so.0 => /usr/lib/libmediainfo.so.0 (0x00007fd821f3e000)
        libzen.so.0 => /usr/lib/libzen.so.0 (0x00007fd821ce8000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007fd821aca000)
        libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 (0x00007fd8217c3000)
        libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00007fd8215ad000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00007fd82120d000)
        libz.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libz.so.1 (0x00007fd820ff5000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6 (0x00007fd820d71000)
        /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007fd822582000)

Could be this. Try the workaround in this comment e.g.:

Code: Select all
-Djna.library.path=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

Installed the PPA the right way, still no dice. I wonder if we are chasing ghosts with this libzen issue. Everything seems to get indexed fine (which is, as I understand it, what mediainfo is used for), it's the playback that fails.

if you have a working version, can you try to playback an mp4 file? Here is the command that actually streams the file
Code: Select all
[pool-12-thread-1] DEBUG 17:25:11.569 Starting ffmpeg -ss 1 -i "/media/Together We Will Live Forever.mp4" -an -an -s 320x180 -vframes 1 -f image2 pipe:

Does that look normal/correct?

That's just creating a thumbnail.

Did you try the workaround?

I did. No change in anything. Still getting the libzen not found and still unable to play mp4 files.

You can try experimenting with different library paths (see the instructions under "For Debian, the relevant information is stored here" in issue 1152 and adjust accordingly) and/or temporarily adding symlinks as per the original ticket. I'm still using 10.10, so it's not something I can reproduce.

Got everything working. Changing it to
Code: Select all
 -Djna.library.path=/usr/lib/
seems to have solved the issue. Thanks a ton chocolateboy for all the help!

chocolate boy, radicaleggnog - I registered just so that I could say thanks. This solved my "data is corrupted" issue with PS3-compliant MP4 files. Appreciate the info.
