In share setting there is the option to scan all folders in your shared folder list. But this can take a lot of time as the popup also says.
Please can you make it so that you can right click one of the folders and just scan that selected folder.
I have one folder in which I keep all the latest downloads before sorting them out, would be helpful to just scan that folder rather than the entire drive.

There's no need to constantly scan. New files are added to the bottom of the file list and are resorted into the rest of the file list upon restart of PMS.

@meskibob This is true for the 'normal' folders but not for the media library ones.

If you always wanted to have your most recent videos at the top of the folder in the ps3 or wished you could group all videos with the same genre in one folder, have a look at pms-mlx
